Re: New fios install, picture question

I did that. I set the screen to 720 and turned off the stretch. My high def looks better. Locals look slightly better but are still blurry. Without the stretch on I have to use the panasonic remote to adjust the aspect ratio when I change from hd to standard (kind of a pain). The verizon remote has and aspect button, but it will not work.

If you turn on your TV & STB manually press POWER-SELECT-MENU on the front of the STB to access the setup menu. You probably have to adjust these settings until you get the best picture possible.

I just had Fios Tv installed today (central NJ). I switched from Cablevision. I have a panasonic 50 inch plasma and received the motorolla hd/dvr box as well as a 42 inch plasma on an hd box for the second tv. For some reason, the picture quality is not as good as everyone has described, especially my locals, on both tv's. I started using hdmi (which I used with cable tv) but I had to switch to component as my local channels were almost unwatchable (blurry and not crisp). For some reason, component picture was slightly better. I was watching the ncaa basketball and could barely make out the ball on the local channel. When I tune into the high def channel it is much clearer but not as crisp as what I had with cable. During the install, the tech tested the cable line which goes to all my tv's and said the signal was within range. I find it hard to believe that my cable signal would be stronger than fios. Is there a way to tweak or up the signal from the ont? I dont want to sound picky, but one of the reasons I switched to fios was because of the alleged better picture quality. What I find strange is the guide data and menu picture is crystal clear. Its the video that is blurry. On a side note, the video light on my ont does not light up, should that be on now that I have fios tv? Advice is appreciated..
