| That's just your browser cache. It means that you surfed to a site that had that file embedded.
Try surfing to the same site with Firefox or IE 7, and scan again. You'll find the same file in those browser's caches too.
Just don't try to run those files though. |

Looks more like yer AVG security sucks. Why did it let an infected file onto your hard drive in the first place ? I thought AVG had web scanning enabled by default. |

if either your browser or av security sucked you would be visiting SCU forum here. As it happened, and as already suggested, you were fortunate enough that infection was prevented while browsing site(s) that carry such infections.

That's called a drive-by infection. If you expect to go to questionable websites and think your browser/av/etc. is supposed to save you from yourself..think again.
The only real exploit there is in front of the monitor.
Don't visit crackz sites, eh?
FYI, seems you get a lot of those if you have a quarantine history for two years worth.
Here's mine:
I only use Opera, but with .JS/Flash/Java and such all off by default except for sites I define.
Plus, with my router/firewall, HOSTS file, etc., I haven't even seen a infection since I setup this computer. Do like the corporations do, block things at the perimeter.
Opera didn't force you to surf to an infected website, now did it?

Wish you had been using IE, the story may have been different.......(no slander ment)
Just set the cache to zero. Turn off javascript too on those strange sites Caff mentioned.
On a side note, look up your DNS cache too as well, or is that a bad thing?

Cudni and Oleg are right. It's a good thing you were using Opera. If you were using a vulnerable browser, your system would have been infected by now.
But an .exe file being loaded by any website by default doesn't say good things about that site. I don't think any of the modern browsers will auto-run such files anyway. Not even IE 6, if fully patched. |
