| Considering swtiching to 3Web Cable Gold East
Ok first off I have a TOTALLY negative attitude towards 3Web with all the poor tech service, service outages, billing issues and just the lack of basic coporate integrity.
What are the speeds like? Roger network & 3web network?
What is the switching process from Rogers to 3Web like?
Is the service reliable? Uptime and speeds.
Do they throttle BT?
Do have any any monthly bandwidth cap?
Am I just asking for trouble? |

| Speeds: according to speedtest.net, I've topped out at around 6.5 - 6.7 down, 500 up.
Switching process was seamless for me, although I was told by a rep that I needed to get a new modem (because I wanted to run both 'simultaneously' in the event that I didn't like 3web). Went to a The Source store and got myself a Moto Surfboard 5100 for $100, called 3web up, and gave them its MAC address. Just under a week later, my account was activated, and I just simply swapped modems to connect to 3web.
Reliability is pretty good overall, just shy of Rogers'. Only goes down once in a blue moon, typically during early morning hours (3am - 5am), for about 10 mins max.
Speeds are fairly consistent (by feel), although I don't run speedtests every hour.
No throttling. No caps.
Everyone seems to have mixed views / experiences with them, as you've already read, but I've been satisfied overall. Sometimes I really wonder if all the negative posts are legit, as 3web has been pretty solid for me throughout the year (or so) I've had it.
Hope this helps. |

@rogers.com | reply to elpale1 In their help section it say that you have to run software to stay connect. So what do you do about routers and devices on which you can't install their software? |
