Re: Petition to boycott Creative!

Yes it is a fake...and the rebates on newegg.com are not new. They predate this fiasco Creative has brought upon themselves. The truth should be able to stand on its own merits without all the "embellishment". In fact it removes focus on the real problem, so I suggest if you are going to post something questionable...back it up or dont repeat it

Yeah, fake, but what will newegg do when they get wind of this. They might actually cringe and back off from Creative some. Though OTOH, Creative still sells horrible power supplies along with good ones, and they don't seem to care about the grief they get from that, either. It's one reason I don't shop much from newegg now...

Creative actually wanted me to pay to RMA my soundcard when it developed mic problem..

"Seems this is a huge problem, Creative seems like won't stand behind it's products and fix the problems. I even called there support number, and they said well only thing can do is RMA it for $43.40. Hello i didn't cause this problem, the card did

Creative get off your behinds, and HELP USERS FIX THESE PROBLEMS, OR RECALL THE CARDS that are having this problem"

If I had money, i would've done something years ago on Creative

newegg has sent the creative forum a letter saying that they are dropping the products related to this as for now until something changes!!! Yay!
just ridiculous to believe and point to this letter....

koam, get off this already!

Who freaking cares if it is fake? Seriously! The real crime is Creative lieing to sell product. "Vista Ready" my arse!

Creative Labs, for years, has lied to pad sales, such as claim false crap about what their sound cards can do with things such as MP3 compressed audio. And they have been getting away with such snake oil salesmanship crap.

Just let this go, the real issue is Creative's shameful treatment!!!

What Company refuses to provide Tech support if a product is more than 90 days old(Phone support), ridiciolous in my mind, as well as mic ports dieing on the card that haven't had for a long time, as well as Software problems, driver problems.

I'd even jump for joy Microsoft buying Creative out, or any company, Creative is shameless, lying to pad sales, among other things, forum support not helpful at all(Creative). Microsoft sure doesn't treat customers like Creative does, and i don't know of any other company that does, Still have the mic i was using when the mic port went on those 2 former Creative cards, well it works fine these days.

I was reading a bunch of threads and websites to figure out what exactly this Daniel guy did, what he may have stolen, and why Creative was angry, and what products does this really affect and I found the fake newegg post. This was so funny. Have a good laugh:

To wit, we have processed nearly 5,000 return orders within the past 48 hours. While it is not normally in our best interest to publically comment in a manufacturer's forum, the overwhelming concensus has left us little choice. As such, effective tommorow morning newegg.com will suspend sales of the sound cards in question, particularly those indicated as "Vista compatible", pending an investigation into the matter. Those of you whom recently ordered such a card will still recieve your product as indicated in any relevant conversations. While we regret this abrupt decision, it has been deemed neccessary to protect the interest of our consumers. We welcome contact from Creative as soon as is possible so that we may resolve this issue.

Boy, talk about a bad PR move on CL's part. While I agree the Modder shouldn't have asked for donations, Creative should have hired him on the spot anyway.

This should most definitly be on the front page!

Creative owns the software and individuals don't have the right to modify it and then distribute Creative's property, modified to others.
I agree if the person did something he wasn't suppose to do then the guy should be shunned. You never said if Creative is in the wrong. If Creative misrepresents what they are selling, that would be considered deception and fraud. Creative is taking customers money on those points.

This is hilarious. It really is. Boycott Creative only now? I've been doing this for years. Ever since the SB Live, Creative has been (and produced) absolute garbage.

You miss the point, Creative don't want him fixing the drivers (they could fix them easily in a day or so). They want people to ditch their old stuff and buy new. Thats what they are p*ssed at!

hmm...creative product fan here...my only experience with creative has been the creative mp3s. They definitely sound better than ipods and many other mp3 players, and I have always believed that creative has been in business to creating sound devices before any other companies started making mp3 players.

I will wait to hear an official statement from the corporation before I support any campaign to boycott such a company.

Something interesting about Creative that I didn't know:

Apparently they don't give reviewers/review hardware for evaluation. Instead, they force reviewers to go out and purchase the retail product.

For how "image-oriented" Creative is as a company, I'd expect the exact opposite. Pretty weird...

this is hilarious.first they charge for vista driver support with a2 and older cards.now they pull the rug out from under a gent trying to help users regain functionality.sure he shouldnt have asked for donations but lets be real here.how often do people actually donate to aftermarket driver developers?right, never lol.so how deep did he cut into creatives bottom line after all?hell even if he kept users from upgrading they chose to let him do it for how long?a year?two?cmon...
btw if im not mistaken creative has been losing money for a looooongtime.ipod anyone?
burn baby burn

What is the time frame when they are obligated to support their cards, and operating systems that were not available at the time of the purchase?

well gee we all know the answer to that question...they dont!

how about we use creatives own track record?
lets use the sblive as a example shall we?the card was released august 1998.
average everyday operating systems that have been released since its inception?win98se,winME,win2000,winXP(we wont include server or 64bit oses, heck we could chop 98se right out if it makes ya feel better).yep you counted right, four new os changes that all retained 100% functionality for the sblive.hmmm doesnt make sense does it?

"well thats only one example",you say!?!

alrighty, lets jump ahead to the audigy series.released in 2001.it retained full functionality thru out the xp era.well what do we have here?thats seven whole years worth of functionality.in all windows environments even?!?gosh i should be golden from here on out...shouldnt i?

now this is where things get a liiiitle bit hazy.see,if you happened to be one of the unfortunates that assumed creative would continue upon much the same path.rut ro,boy oh boy, were you in for a treat!surprise!creative decided that your shiny new soundcard wasnt going to be compatable with vista.well i just bought this card three months ago!hah!touuuugh luck amigo.your on your own, creative laughs.oh and by the way unfortunate user...we have vista functionality buuuut you have to pay for the drivers aaaaahahahaha.

so please leave the"how long are they obligated"bs at the door.it just doesnt hold water my friend.no matter how you try to slice it up.bs is bs.
