| Problems with cable..
Just added box upstairs, when I click ON DEMAND it says "communication error" Also, some of the channels are saying "channel will be available shortly". I hooked up everything right. I am using a 1000mhz splitter which goes to 2 tvs. Also, a 70ch amplifier. I tried the box downstairs up in my room and it does the same thing. Is there anything I can do without paying an arm and a leg for a technician visit. |

| First a few questions:
Do you know the type of cable that has been run to the upstairs bedroom? RG-6? RG-59? RG-6, good; RG-59, bad (doesn't handle high frequency well).
What type of cable connectors are used (hopefully not the type that twist onto the coax)? Can lead to poor connections.
Have you tried it without the amplifier? Perhaps it is not rated for digital. -- "I was the bad guy once again. I laughed at their sorrows. Ha ha ha ha ha." |

The downstream or forward is likely higher on the freq range, but the upstream, request for the program, is in the lower/sub band. You didnt state if your splitter can pass the sub band and didnt really give any specifics as to what type of amp. Some amps will kill the reverse. Also you didnt get to into your homes cableing but why an amp for two outlets? -- CableTechs.org/"Horrible People with Integrity" |

| The amp just says 70 channel radioshack amp with an input and output. The splitter says 500-1000mhz and says 3.5mb input and output. The cables themselves are fine because my downstairs works fine(they are the type that you screw on). The downstairs runs through a splitter also at 2150mhz that connects to the cable and to the internet so maybe the splitter is no good in the basement? |

| said by CCAA67322 :YAY I fixed it!! Turned out it was the amplifier Good Job! If you have any future issues it might be worth getting a tech out there. It sounds as if not one piece of your equipment used in your homes cableing is actually rated for cable. Sounds like a mix of antennae pasives and Sattelite Passives.
