IIRC, NBC was little more than news & late night.
Broadcast network VOD deals depend (in part) on deals / relationships between the networks and their local affiliates (who sell local advertising on the shows, depend on them as lead-ins to their own news shows, etc.)

ABC signed an on-demand deal with Comcast (perhaps others) a couple years ago, however it only covered markets where the local affiliate was owned-and-operated by ABC/Disney. Not sure of actual deployments (I think it was pretty minimal). However, very recently, ABC struck a deal with their local affiliates that allowed them to make a VOD deal with Cox(and others). But, the deal depends on 1) local affiliates being able to sell and insert local ads into the VOD content (ie, it's not just a matter of a single thrown / caught national VOD episode of CSI sponsored by GM) and 2) disabling FF during ads. Cox and ABC have been running a trial in Orange County CA.
See:
»abcmedianet.com/Web/progcal/disp···22508_02
etc.

Fox made a deal to make VOD content available to (surprise surpise) DirecTV (which really ticked off some local affiliates BTW). 24 was available (temporary, experimental trial) on CableVision. To my knowledge they haven't made a (significant) cable deal yet (for the broadcast network stuff ... yes, they have made deals for their cable nets ... also various 'add-on' and 'additional content' like some shorts leading up to the new 24 series premier, stuff like that).

Note: The above is just related to MSO-provided VOD ... ABC and Fox have of course done various non-MSO specific suff (Internet, iTunes, etc, etc).

JPL : I haven't seen that, though. When they gave us the IMG the delay with getting into VOD was horrible. I started using the search to find entries instead - it's nice that you can search on VOD now. Since getting HD VOD, though, it has markedly sped up. I still see delays sometimes, and maybe it's just coincidental, but it's nowhere near as bad as it was even last week.

BTW, I think the reason for the sluggishness with the IMG vs. the old guide has to do with how they load up the entries. I noticed with the old guide, you'd get in pretty quickly, but the list of offerings weren't fully there for a few minutes - it would build the list while you were in it. Now it appears that they build the entire list of offerings when you first get in - or at least they build the list for the category you're trying to get into.

Oh, and it looks like they are expanding some of the HD VOD offerings. The VUDU box HD content is in 1080P24 MPEG4 but it's also at a 4mbs stream. The FIOS HD VOD seems to still be around 15mbs with MPEG2. Well my connection speed from my PC dropped by 15mbs(from 30mbs to 15mbs) when I was testing out the HD VOD this morning. Just like it did when they were testing the HD VOD last year.

Yeah, but isn't that the nature of bandwidth, if something is using it the speed goes down. Since VOD uses the net connection and HD VOD uses even more, can you expect that whatever speed you pay for 5 / 15 / 20 / 30 is going to stay at that level while you are essentially DL-ing data (VOD).
