I know they plan on doing like some sort of new shit down here in Florida. A tech told me something but I forgot what it was. Something like live feeds where it takes a while to switch channels. Kinda like EVERY channel on demand always.

Thats switched digital video or SDV.

Which, interestingly, is not really related to the 3ghz upgrades. As MacLeech noted, the 3ghz upgrades require either a new cablemodem or a new cable box to take advantage of.

My guess is they'll do something like release a big HD lineup utilizing the new space with MPEG-4, and require the customer go get a new box to do it. They can relegate all the old HD DVRs to SD customers. The extra space will be useful for DOCSIS 3 as well. I'll be happy with either one.
