Change of heart on user caps

»Rogers Shows American Cable Users The Future
U.S. users should keep an eye on, because the pricing and presentation is something many U.S. cable operators would very much like to bring to the States.
Karl,
I thought your stance on this was that it would never happen in the U.S. In fact, I have been told in many posts that my thoughts that this was coming to the U.S. were flat out wrong.

Has their been a change in heart? Is this now very possible as I have said all along?

I've said pure per-byte billing would never come.

I've said if it did come it would be in the form of overage charges.

um no...a lot of those shareholders are users...the issue is the corporate executives. Very few shareholders these days have any say in anything the corporation does or says.

Re: Change of heart on user caps

Actually, it's not the common shareholder that's the problem, its the hedge fund managers, professional investors, and very rich people who are only buying into the company to make a short-term profit...

I can agree with this statement. The CEOs are soooo disconnected from their customers that it isn't funny.

I know this was direct towards Karl, but I just wanted to interject, that I always believed you when you said they would TRY to do something like this, but I don't think it's going to work. This is going to cause a war between the dumb pipes/content providers and the content providers. Also, the customer isn't isn't going to like it much either. Is Canada having an economic downturn as well? These companies are going to kill the proverbial Goose that lays the "Golden Egg" with tactics like this... I'm sure they've been looking forward to doing this for a good while...

"Very much like..." Yes, they would. If there is any Justice left in the World, it would never happen tho.
