1) Why did you give "the new copy a unique file name" ? I suspect when you do that it's a static copy now, not a "replica".

2) Under File, User Preferences, (can't remember if there's add'l steps) is a field for specifying the address book(s) filename(s). You can list multiple ones, seperated by a comma.
