Did you check each of his location preferences to see what the settings are for his type ahead?

ie. "local then server" is the default for office(under the mail tab), but if he's switched his location(s) then his alternate location settings might not be properly configured to find the address books.

I seen this issue last week. The OP failed to mention if he was connected via vpn or 2 the network in the office when the issue. Poked it's head.

I have found that moving the nsf and address book files via usb thumb drive. Have caused corruption and caused the encrypted copies to never work correctly , OP did you use usb or did you do a network transfer ? Also make sure they are in the same location on each machine. This some times makes notes throw a tizzy.
