| Any error messages? Hard to say what may be the problem without an error message.
However, Comcast has been known to push a port 25 block on the modem upon evidence of unusually (by some internal Comcast measure) high SMTP activity.
Pull up a command prompt and type "telnet smtp.comcast.net 25". Should look something like this: You have to type the 'quit' yourself to close the connection.
If you see this: ...then port 25 is blocked. If that is the case, change your port to 587 in your email client. With port 587 you have to authenticate to the server. Authentication will require your full Comcast email address as the user name, along with your account password.

I know some people who do Tier 1 tech support in this area - and if you call in and can receive but not send with an email client, that's one of the first things they check. While they don't read from scripts, the ticketing process goes through a line of questioning that does indeed prompt them to do so. Then again, I think that (line of questioning) varies by market.
Saying all Tier 1 call centers are bad at checking for something is like saying that all of the mechanics who work for dealerships owned by a certain manufacturer suck. There's a night-and-day difference between some markets - with everything from technical knowledge and background to what they have access to do. |

If you got an email citing unusual email activity related to spam, then you are already blocked. So next time you need to send email you'll want to use port 587 with authentication, but I'd also suggest you scan your machine and check any wireless routers you might have to ensure they are secure.
If the email you got is about insightbb then ignore what I just wrote |
