1 edit | Getting Front Fan into this Case
Hi
I really should get a front fan into this case--have a newer PCI-E video card, and i know it needs airflow, Plus it's Overclock edition of the card..I can disable that if i install the regular Nvidia drivers, and set it to no overclocking, but a friend said it was best to use MSI's drivers, card is currently runnning 39-40C, I know it's not overheating yet, but i get nervous alot when the temps climb. Unforutaely can't get this front cover off at all
Here is pic of case
Who makes this case?
How do i get front cover off?
Do not have a manual
I'd be fine with No overclocking, just want the temps nice and cool, and so i don't have to worry on the temps |

| If you have good circulation already, this is a cheap and easy way to make sure your video card keeps cool. I use something similar that was a buck cheaper. But its very effective »www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a···35888309 |

1 edit | Had one of those in 2005, leary of using it again, last one caught on fire i had in the PC, and lead to a year of problems, don't want those type of problems again
Would switch all the hardware to a better case, but i'm not that comfortable transferring Motherboard from one Case to the Next, so have to make due with this case |

| Good idea on the slot fans. The thing is about these types of questions is that sometimes we need as much detail as possible.
I am guessing that the fan you need is either a 70mm or 120 mm fan. Either way, you would have to install it from in the case. I am thinking your hard drive and / or the hard drive tray is down in that area or extend to it and it may need to be removed. It could also be just as easy as removing the and drive to just pop in the fan.
If you could open the side panel, left side from looking at your pic, and take some snap shots. It would be much more helpful. -- If you are having half as much fun as I am, then I must be having twice the fun than you are. Do The Math! |

It appears that it is a 120 mm fan and you will have to snap the plastic front off to install it. |

| only problem is the front panel is very hard to get off, one time i tried, got one snap undone, but rest wouldn't budge, there is 6 of them that won't budge at all. There is also 2 spots like that for a fan. I guess will try with front cover again when i get time to |

| Yeah gonna allow half a day to do it, or a whole day when i get ready to in the coming days, today kinda busy, so really don't have all that time to do it, might invest in some fan filters possibly first, less cleaning the better with the front one the better.
Not sure why they make cases that are such a pain to remove front covers, or even side covers, one case side, seals so good, takes about 10 minutes just to get it released sometimes |

2 edits | I just wanted to add. Have a couple of flat head screw drivers or something handy to place between the case and the plastic when you snap each one out of their socket one at a time.
Also, be sure the fan is pointed in the correct direction before reassembly. -- If you are having half as much fun as I am, then I must be having twice the fun than you are. Do The Math! |

| reply to computerman2 My guess is that that's actually an 80mm or 90mm fan, not a 120mm. The internals of that case look similar to mine and mine takes the 80mm.
It takes a bit of force to get the front off, just remember to do it in horizontal and it will go much easier. The fan goes right in front of the drives and is why they're pushed back so far. The easiest way I've gotten the front bezel off is to take off both side panels, lay the computer on it's back, straddle the case and pull gently but forcefully from the bottom up.
Also make sure you've got a spare connector for power to the fan. Sometimes there's one on the motherboard near the front, other times you'll have to jack from the power supply. Make sure your fan has the proper connector also. Three-prong for the motherboard, four-prong molex for off the power supply. -- "While you can teach an old dog new tricks, you simply can't teach him to be a cat." |

| reply to computerman2 I have that same case, or should I say I stopped using it. I did manage to jam two 80mm fans in front of the HDs, side by side, in it, but there was no intake, so hot air was mostly what flowed.
I hated that case, no serious fannage on it, if your's IS the same as mine.
I think I'd add fans to the side panel on it sucking hot air out from next to the HDs, but your best bet is a new case, but coolermaster is selling refurb cases for VERY cheap, last time I checked, I made a thread about it in the hot deals forum a while back. -- You know your life has gotten "DICEY" when it turns into an episode of LOST, like my ex wife, who I swear is one of "The Others". | Well i do have another case available, but transferring the hardware not so sure on, since is my main PC, not even sure if board would fit in the other case or not, though it's not much different than the board that old case had in it.
Plus that case has no motherboard tray, the board mounts right to the case side rails of that other case that is sitting empty in closet. If folks would like pics of that one, i can bring it out later on, and take the pics of it |

computerman2 could get both and send the one back that doesn't fit. -- If you are having half as much fun as I am, then I must be having twice the fun than you are. Do The Math! |

All ATX boards are the same size for universal mounting.
Not all cases have motherboard trays, mine doesn't. Just make sure you use the brass risers or it will never work. Dismantle the current one carefully and reassemble in the new case in steps. Just make sure you have the motherboard manual handy for the panel pin layouts. -- "While you can teach an old dog new tricks, you simply can't teach him to be a cat." |

1 edit | reply to Juke Box Other Case i'm considering using if all else fails with this current case..Let me know what you all think of this one, if i need another motherboard standoff, could grab it from this case after i remove this board
oh the right side also has a Side fan on that case as well, and takes a 92mm in back fan, and 80mm in the front, plus side vents on the case covers. |

| Yeah i have the book handy for this motherboard, and i have brass motherboard things in there, and i could grab another one out of this case if needed to. I transferred my old Sempron board to my old AMD's Duron's case, and that worked fine, but little uneasy to attempt with my Main System, but am considering it |

| Would have alot better cooling than this small case, i'm pretty confident i can do it, get the input/output thing in the back, get the board connected to that, and the holds should line up, and if they don't, grab a brass riser from this case, and put them where the holes don't line up, then reset the board inside, line up the holes again, screw it in. Then plug in the cards and cables, and then the fans. and should work fine i think |

| reply to computerman2 Ok, doesn't seem you are listening or something, I suggested getting a super cheap high quality case from Coolermaster's Refurb sales, but you didn't respond to the suggested from what I saw. Oh well, I can try and help but...
