I've had the same trouble, the april 1st no one believes ya trouble.

I've had troubles getting things done today as well, because too many people think nothing could possibly be serious today.

I've set up a forum, I had to sort out my life insurance, rent was due, I formatted my system, hey, it's just another day to some of us
I also don't think much of friday the 13th either.

I know mori by the way. I'd likely be testing with him if I didn't usually end up regretting messing with my router
He usually ends up fixing it for me.

more than likely they just looking at traffic on ports greater than 1024. It might just be the case for people on the wholesale lines, I wonder if Bell Sympatico users can do the same trick ??

I guess Bell thinks that the wholesale lines could have webserver and such at the end so they don't want to impact possible businesses.........maybe

Cheers

Sorry Casubon not sure what to suggest seems to be working for everyone else. negative as well on port 443 for me. Going to try over SSL ports. like 995 which Sympatico users use for Connecting to pophm.sympatico.ca etc..

Port 995 works as well woot!
995 works here as well!

ahhh sorry I missed that

thats interesting, well I guess they just inspect packets on ports >1024 then

I suppose there would be loads more connections on ports 1024 so that could be to much to inspect.

just hit 300KB/s over 3 torrents. Have not touched anything on firewall either for port 80.

Will try later when roommate gets back. Let him try to use 443 and me at 80 to max out the connection maybe...

edit - 350kb/s -upload about 65kb/s

i;ve only tried 21 80,81 443 and 995 and 443,81 are Blocked. so I am thinking its basically email/web ports only

I would suggest...

110 (pop)
25 (smtp)
22 (ssh)

and just out of interest try something like 8080 (proxy), or any other known port >1024 e.g. 3128, 8080, 6667

Cheers

I've been throttled at around 25KB/s, max I can get is 40, on 3web.. switched to port 21, it stayed around 70 for a while but now I'm back up to close to 500KB/s down. No upload though..

8080 seems to do the trick for me! At least my upload rate shot up to around its normal (unthrottled) level.

Many thanks!

try port 21, 80, 110, 443, 995 and 8080 on utorrent 1.7.7 without any success(download is being capped at ~25KB/s); btw, I am connected to bas9-toronto12

I'm not a user of any of the throttled Bell services, but as a third party I'm kinda wondering.... if people start to use ports designed for email, HTTP, etc to get the torrents past the Sympatico throttling, won't that impact the network for the actual services (like email etc) to the point that you'll be confirming Bell's EXCUSE that they have to stop P2P traffic for the good of "Network management" ...?

I mean, if you've got people who can't get email, and Bell says "It's the evil P2P'ers!" well, won't that be justification for draconian "traffic management" ...?

IE, you might be HELPING Bell's BS case?

Just a thought...
