| [CATV] HD without DVR? Just cable box?
Does insight offer a regular HD cable box? I already have a DVR and got a second HDTV. I do not want to spend $15 a month for something I wont even use.
It does not seem like they offer any non PVR HD Box.
Doesn't anyone at Insight see this as a huge hole in their offerings? Not everyone wants a PVR on every TV. |

Last I knew before being forced to comcast they did not, since comcast seems to offer one in at least some areas it may be the only good thin gto come from being switched |

If you only have basic cable and your TV has A QAM tuner you will get the local channels in HD without a box. If you have the premium HD channels(HBO, ESPN, ETC) you will have to have a box of some kind.
Having only a DVR makes business sense. You only stock one box. It is not good for a customer like you.
Maybe you can get a cable card for the new TV? I don't know anything about them though. |

| reply to Han_Solo Bowling Green Insight doesn't offer a hd box without the dvr when I had hd service several months ago. Their dvr was kind of sluggish sometimes in response to the remote, but worked when needed. Here in Bowling Green, you can get abc, cbs, fox, and nbc with a qam tuner with standard cable. Insight charges $15.00 extra for hd/dvr service which offers, and another charge for the hd pack, and if you want more hd channels you always have to have the digital choice, which gives you more hd channels. It ends up to be about $35.00 for hd total no counting if you want other premium channels in hd. I didn't watch all those channels, just the prime networks and I already get them in hd with my qam tuner, so I just have standard cable now to save money. |

| reply to Han_Solo as mentioned, using your new TV's QAM tuner, you should get the locals in HD, if you are wanting premiums, you have to get the $15 box or take your TV back and get one with a cable card slot, then call Insight and order a Cable Card, they're much cheaper and you will get all your premium channels, just no OnDemand or TVGuide. |
