| reply to TOPDAWG Re: Ideal WoW PC - $400 Budget
Most reviews i found on that coolermaster were good, only bad reviews were DOA's, which are a total crapshoot lol. Try your best to avoid OC'ing your video card with it however, some people reported issues with OC'ing their video card with it, but it could have been a compatability issue.
The antec's reviews were all good, but most people reported it being really loud, so if youre going for quiet, avoid this PSU. My earthwatts 500 is really quiet, so im guessing there is some difference with the basiq model.
Before we give you a definite answer about your power needs, how many hard drives and optical drives(cd/dvd burners etc) are you going to be using? |

| reply to Bes If you want to spend less and get a nice PC you can always go refurbished. I got my wife a Gateway one from tiger direct. I just upgraded the PSU added memory it came with a 1 gig I added 2 more and added a graphics card.
It came with vista premium to if you care about that type of thing. Specs are close to this one I got her.

Not a bad deal if you just want to fire the PC up without doing much work. Also being as vista is forking over $100 I want ahead and got the gateway. I could build her a PC but I need to learn vista cause I'm in school as a net tech so I got to learn vista like it or not. So by the time you count the parts and getting vista it was cheaper to get a refurbished PC then build a new PC. |

| reply to Bes said by Bes :Tehuno: Thanks. I was still feeling very iffy about getting the E2160, but I think you've convinced me that it will be worth the money. Leathal and Chaud: "The Expansion is not going to require users to upgrade to Vista. We have some things in the works on the end of graphics, but it's not anything that is going to require this specific upgrade." - Posted by someone from the Blizzard Team on page 12, post number 235. As for the "We have some things in works on the end of graphics" part, I don't think they'd pump the graphics too high that everyone would require anything much more than what they have in their System Requirements page. Blizzard has always made sure to make their games available to almost everyone, and that includes budget-PC-building people like me. I'm also not seeing where Leathal learned the expansion would require more CPU, video performance, and RAM... Take what they said with a grain of salt as there are games on the horizon that will shadow World of Warcraft's graphics with the same playability if not better, if Blizzard sticks to the same rudimentary graphic design they will be holding the short end of the stick as flocks of players will leave WoW making it not feasible that Blizzard continues to operate and support World of Warcraft.

| reply to rawwhide Funny have you seen the specs on the AMD quad core? It doesn't even come close to the Intel quad core performance, it's so bad that AMD still has not released their Quad core server CPUs which they promised would be out November of last year!

Leathal I certainly don't see that happening in the near future. People STILL play the original EQ. Also, one of the great parts of WoW is that it runs half decent on terrible computers, thus allowing mom and pop to play too. The cutting-edge will always move on, and catering to that small minority is a terrible idea. |

| reply to Tehuno OK, good to know. I was really hoping I didn't need to spend over $50-$60 on a PSU. If 460 is fine, I'll probably just go with that.
TOPDAWG:
I guess that wouldn't be a bad idea, but I'd rather just buy the stuff separately, as I already have a case and everything else I need. I think it would just be cheaper this way. There's also the advantage of knowing just exactly what you have in your system if you build it yourself. The building itself might actually be pretty fun, too. I've always liked building and setting things up. |

| Alright, well, I think I've pretty much made up my mind now. Looking at my current situation though I'll probably need to wait another week or so and see how things go before I purchase anything, and unless someone has anything to add or suggest, then I'm pretty much set on buying these items.
I'm a little bit worried about the RAM though. They keep falling out of stock, getting restocked, and then falling out of stock over and over again. Hopefully by the time I'm ready to purchase all of this, everything will be in stock. |

| Alright, just an update for anyone who is wondering. I ordered all the parts yesterday (Friday). I should have everything by next week. I'll let you guys know how things go.
Thanks a lot for helping me out! |
