For the past few days I have been unable to access anything at Google -- every time I try to do a search or access Google Maps, I get the following 403 error:
We're sorry...
... but your query looks similar to automated requests from a computer virus or spyware application. To protect our users, we can't process your request right now.
We'll restore your access as quickly as possible, so try again soon. In the meantime, if you suspect that your computer or network has been infected, you might want to run a virus checker or spyware remover to make sure that your systems are free of viruses and other spurious software.
If you're continually receiving this error, you may be able to resolve the problem by deleting your Google cookie and revisiting Google. For browser-specific instructions, please consult your browser's online support center.

I do not have spyware running on my machine, nor do I have a virus. My McAfee is up to date and running (and just completed a system scan overnight, finding nothing), and my spyware detection software -- also updated and running -- has come up empty as well.
I looked up this error (using Yahoo :P), and it appears that this error most likely means Google has banned my IP, or the block my IP is located in, thinking spybots are running from it. Supposedly waiting 24 hours and trying again has cleared it up for others, but I've been getting this error solidly all week.
Anyone else running into this? If anyone has been able to find a way to remove this error, I'm all ears ... Thanks!!

p.s. I know about free web proxies, but that's a pain and I'd rather just be able to use Google directly. |
