Scandinavia now has 100mb connections and better, welcome to 2008 They also pay 50% or more of their income as taxes, part of which subsidize this service WITHIN limited areas. I would bet that 100mb service is available to a greater number of people in limited areas in this country, however the individual user has to pay the full (or a higher % of it) cost directly, so very few choose that level of service. |

They might have preferred you not post the internal IP's, if nothing else.
What's interesting is the hop where the latency goes from 1 to 89ms. Must be jumping across the country somewhere? Medtronic has several very large facilities in MN, I am a little surprised they privately backhaul their internet access so far away before it goes onto a public backbone...

I need to wonder, Regarding the current DOCSIS 2.0 modems already on the market, will they be upgradable to DOCSIS 3.0 like older modems were from DOCSIS 1.1 to DOCSIS 2.0 ? Because otherwise the $80 i spent on my new modem will be a waste. |

Youll need an entirely new modem. And $80.00 for a modem you can rent for 3.00 a month that is usually outdated in a year already was a waste. |

yeah, I don't know which of those are internal IPs, I assume the 1 ms entries. If nothing bad can happen, I am not worried about.
when you say "link is saturated" what do you mean? I work at one of these large facilites, would a lot of network traffic be 'saturatation'?
any ideas why when I tried the trace route on my vista machine I was getting 'timed out'? I only attempted once cause it was late when I got home and checked the forum. I can try again tonight, but I am at a loss |

Forward and return routes are not necessarily symmetrical. It's very possible for large corporations to have traffic egress out onto the Internet in one state and return from another. I would recommend you take down that trace. 1) it really provides no information of value in the discussion of Comcast services 2) Medtronic's Information Risk Management (IRM) department would definitely take issue with you posting it. |

Does anyone have any ideas of when Comcast will start rolling this to other cities? I know that the end of the year is still a ways out, but I would like to see other cities start to get it as well. |

I was having issues with major loss of speed, bleh bleh, its explained elsewhere on the forum. Long story short, the tech who came out told me that the modem i got from Comcast, an RCA 425 model was refurbished and that was the cause. He told me to go out and buy my own, so I did. With rebates it came out to be like $40. I'm really suprised that it cant be firmware upgraded. Its a Linksys CM100. |

Probably already did this, but have you disabled any firewall that might be blocking outbound ICMP? Norton 360 I know disables it by default... |

yes but Comcast itself said that its not "Supported" on their site since its not on the list » media2.comcast.net/anon. ··· ist1.htm, but when I spoke to a tech via their chat, he said that any modem would work. I'm hoping that Linksys does release a firmware update for the CM100 to give to Comcast if or when DOCSIS 3.0 rolls out by me. I really would perfer to have this modem longer then 3 years before its outdated. Comcast originally had me setup for the wrong tier, so I was getting the slower speeds. When I setup the modem the first time, they just asked for the MAC address, but when I called in to check the services, they asked for both the MAC address and the modems Serial number as well. I wonder if they have the right config file for my model. They knew it was a Linksys, but never said the model number. |

If 3.0 is implemented in your area, I'm afraid that your going to need a whole new modem if you want to take advantage of what 3.0 offers. That modem will be backwards compatible however, and will still function the way it does now. |

I have a Linksys WRT54G v8 with the 240Mhz processor. I was wondering if the WAN is limited like you said the older versions are, since the site you linked to only goes up to version 5. Also what about the Linksys WRH54G 1.0 version, is that WAN limited as well to 35Mbps? |

Re: wideband coming to twin cities this week"Well I spoke to an insider they said that they are still working on 25meg but wanted to get 50 out the door sooner so right now they are pushing 50. Still going to be interesting by the end of the year!"
Im getting 16/2 now with powerboost up to 32/3 so why would I pay to go to 25/x, unless it was only $5 more like around $64 then forget it, a 30/4 for $75 or less I'd consider. |

The extra 40Mhz will help, I'm just not sure how much. It was also reported over clocking helps. You can always hopefully over clock up to the point of your connection speed. |
