1 edit | Whats going on with Bell/Teksavvy ?
I'm getting a bit frustrated and want to know if others had this problem or its a isolated case ? If others are having this its a serious break Between Teksavvy and Bell and needs serious investigation. If its only me and isolated fine.
My DSL is chugging away at 2.5M/640K profile for 5 months now never a problem. (I'm far from CO over 5KM at 63.5 DB Att). Got everything tweaked to my liking. Running Interleaved of course. SNR is a good 11 DB for my distance and Speedtouch is doing a great job correcting errors with FEC. CRC errors are low.
So along comes the Bell Throttling, I do my part write to everyone folowing these forums and decide to move my Home Phone from Bell to Teksavvy.
Change occurs yesterday and for whatever reason switching my Phone over Bell decides to put my DSL Service to Default Profile of 3M/800K FASTPATH !! At first I'm like OK lets see if my line can handle it as on 2.5M /640 my RCO Down was at about 75% so a tiny bit of room and SNR of about 11 DB. I think if it was INTERLEAVED I might have a shot at FASTPATH NOT !!!!!!!!!! Now I'm at SNR of 6.5 db.
DSL re-sync every 10 Mins tonnes of CRC errors. Of course with Interleaved FEC was handling these errors. So now I send a message into Direct Forum TSI guy warns me about Bell might come if its at my end and I have to pay blah blah. Come on Teksavvy the reasons are obvious why did BELL touch my profile !!!! Now I have to wait how long who knows . Wife can't use Internet at home for work without disruption every 10 mins. Grrrrrr !! All from a Home Phone switch.
Anyone get their profile changed with Home phone change ?
This is NOT right ! If I knew would I change phone ? probably not !!
Someone at Teksavvy please talk to Bell and have explain why DSL profile would be changed ? its frustrating ! |

Call TSI, they'll get it fixed. |

| reply to Shikomu It sounds like the Robot struck again. It's not some guy sitting there playing with profiles, it's an automatic script that says this guy should be able to handle this profile so poof there he is! Alas like any program, it doesn't realize that there are other circumstances involved. And just because guy-A is 4.5km from the CO doesn't mean he can handle 3meg fast...

I already sent to TSI in direct forum but fear it will take too long I kinda need it ASAP. If you could help that would be great ! I will PM you my Phone Number. TSI may have sent a Ticket into Bell can you see if there is a Ticket ?
I was on 2.5M/640k Interleaved but feel I could squeeze 3M/640 interleaved but I know not Fastpath.
Thanks |

| reply to Shikomu At least you still have a connection after the change. I lost my DSL connection all together. Looks like it is going to take some time to fix this. If I had known this was going to happen I would have never switched. I am sure it is not Teksavvy's fault, but very frustrating though. |

I just tested your line and it didn't look great so I reset the port.
It improved things a bit, but your sync rate isn't great (currently 3040/800 on a 5 Mbps fastpath profile).
This sync rate is creating major packet loss as well. I downgraded it to 3008/800 in order to stabilize it, and it *may* still give off some packet loss (100% occupancy for both up and down at that sync rate - although you are getting full sync).
I also tested your neighbour's lines and they all suffer from the same problems as well. -- Season series vs Leafs ends 4-4 ...GO SENS GO |

| said by Guspaz :What are his error rates like; how well is forward error correction compensating for lost data? Before I made the change: There was an average of 1,372 uncorrected blocks every 15 minutes. Yesterday, for the 24 hour period, there were 17,578 error seconds (162 severly errored seconds amongst them). He also lost his connection completely 62 times throughout that day.
Since it was on fastpath, there was no forward error correction occuring.
He is currently still on fastpath as well (3 Mbps). -- Season series vs Leafs ends 4-4 ...GO SENS GO |

I'm at Demarc 63.5 DB Attenuation I'm very far from CO. I didn't realize I was on a 5 Meg profile. 5 meg Fastpath thats pretty wild for my distance. Surprised it even worked. I was thinking more 3M/800 interleaved. So now I'm on 3M/800 Fastpath ? I'll check it out when I get home.
Thanks |
