Awesome post. (yes, this is sarcasm)

Android itself isn't the core operating system in the sense of a "new operating system' by Google. Linux is the core operating system with Android "on top". If what Google promises is true, it will allow any developer with the SDK to write whatever they want to interact with any part of the phone, including the dialer. This should be pretty slick from a developer perspective.

I'm going to hold out though until the speed issue gets resolved. I like EVDO so hopefully Sprint or Verizon follow suit.
