I wonder if the number of months before the release of the 3G iPhone will be the number needed to coincide with the first contract explorations of current iPhone owners.
And why is AT&T wasting money on "upgrades" to EDGE? EDGE is a dead-end technology. Bring on more 3G service! -- This isn't fair! I was only supposed to hate just ONE presidential candidate! |

There would have been a tech-press-orgy if that had occurred. If I remember right, Steve Jobs announced the original iPhone in January of 2007 and it was not released till June of 2007. My standing prediction is that we will most likely see a 3G iPhone "on the street" by June 2009. -- This isn't fair! I was only supposed to hate just ONE presidential candidate! |

 | IIRC, the iPhone was announced before it was even submitted to the FCC. |

A company submitting a device to the FCC can request that their application be kept confidential until a particular date. This prevents product details from being leaked prematurely.
Apple has consistently used the confidentiality provisions |
