Has anyone checked the FCC website

for this next gen iPhone?

I was under the impression that it was somewhere around a 6 month process from application with the FCC until a new handset was launched.

I could be mistaken though.

It's about 6 months for certification, so you're correct. And, while some devices qualify for special treatment, an iPhone "upgrade" ain't one of them.
