The ability to produce the pixels of an image and actually render the image for display are disjoint tasks. Although given that IBM's BlueGenes are rented by all types of researchers, I'd be surprised if they didn't make them versatile enough to handle a number of potential work loads, including some image processing (which would utilize a pipe-lined graphics processor for handling textures). -- It takes two to lie, Marge.
