Re: cd/dvd drive

My cd/dvd drive quit working not long ago. I spent the better part of a day trying to figure out what was wrong. I was about to purchase a new one but decided to try taking a q-tip with a little rubbing alcohol and cleaned the little glass looking thing, which I guess is where the light comes out for reading stuff. It worked and has worked fine since. Maybe that had nothing to do with why it started working again. I'm not sure if trying this could damage your dive, so try it at your own risk after you have exhausted all other options.

Yep, that is the question...is the drive being recognized and all that, but simply not reading the media, or are we talking about "Hey, my CD/DVD "disapperaed" from my system!"???
