jrwskw join:2006-05-09 Huntington, IN | Scam on AT&T Phone Bill Received AT&T bill today with the following:
NEW LINK NETWORK, LLC For billing questions call 1-800-773-5219 NEW LINK NETWORK, LLC VMAIL MTHLY FEE 12.95 Total ILD Teleservices, Inc. 12.95
Called their number and they said this was a voicemail service activated at the website usprizedraw.com by someone I had never heard of in my life. They canceled the service and said I would see a credit in one to two billing cycles. The man did ask how long we had this phone number and I told him, truthfully, for over 35 years.
I know this is probably impossible, but, AT&T might want to consider not just putting something on our bill without some form of verification by their customer-us. |

Feel free to file a complaint with the FCC. It's called "cramming".
You might also report it to AT&T. They will not require you top pay it pending resolution of the dispute. -- Toolmaster of La Grange. |

I believe that AT&T is not allowed by federal law to confirm 3rd party billing with you first. That would be considered interfering with competitive services. As a billing agent they are only allowed to present the charges on your bill. They are basically just a middle man.
A letter to your Federal Rep would be a good start to let them know that you are not pleased with the way 3rd party billing is done. If we don't complain, it will not change. -- R.I.P. Moby 1964 - 2007 |

Re: you can block 3rd party billing Call ATT and ask to put on a 3rd party billing block. This includes LD services, except for ATT, so make sure you are billed separately |

KLH join:2001-09-24 Vincennes, IN | This happened to me twice in the past year. I only had the phone service for the DSL. I finally got sick of it, and ATT finally offer naked DSL, so I dumped my land line..
I also called AT&T after each time I was 'crammed.' The first time the rep said he would put a block so I couldn't be billed again. About 3 months later a different company was billing me. I called ATT again, and this rep said she knew of no way to block third party billing..
Oh well. I canceled my land line then, and switched to a dry loop DSL. |

Re: Scam on AT&T Phone Bill I got this on my January bill. There was nobody there to have made the call. I called the number and they sent a refund check pretty quick. |

I see ten bucks you could trim off right at the top. My local lines run right around $20 a month. To keep everybody else from calling me and if they do I can decide if I want to talk to them or not. Actually I will probably cancel Call ID and Unpublished # and just screen with my answering machine from now on. Once my bill went over $75/mo I killed linebacker and that brought my bill down to $72/mo now my bill is $77/mo again so it's time to cut. Give it another year and it will be back over $75/mo again.
If I could only figure out a way to get all the taxes and service fees removed it would be great. -- In need of a Vegas vacation.
