recommended torque for tightening blade holder nut

Does anyone know what is the recommended torque when tightening the blade holder nut on a table saw?

I just picked up my Makita 2704 (10") from the repair shop today, and based on the discussion with the technician, overtightening said nut was probably part of the reason why I had to take it there in the first place. However, when I asked for a number in lb/ft so I could use a torque wrench in the future, he couldn't give me an exact number.

TIA

I usually just snug it good. Due to the direction of the threads it will tighten if it slips. Put another way, if it doesn't slip it's tight enough!

I'm interested in knowing why over tightening that would cause any problems. What went wrong with the saw?

There were several things wrong with the saw, the overtightening, possibly coupled by the blade getting caught, likely caused the blade and the pictured washers/holders to become warped. I'm kinda surprised about those spacers ( ), but the technician told me the blade was very wobbly even after it was replaced with a new one, and they had to replace the displayed items to become true. (anyone know their proper names?) The blade is less than perfect (they didn't give me a new one), but the 3/1000" runout (according to the technician) should be good for what I'm using it right now.

This was a warranty work, but otherwise it would've been about $55.

Interesting. Well..I just hand tighten, you don't really have to worry about it being too lose so just keep that in mind when you're tightening it from now on.

as said above, just snug it down, the direction of spin will tighten it as much as needed.
