Hi Folks,
Since parts of Marietta and Alpharetta are now getting Uverse, I was curious if anyone in Roswell has it yet?
The VRAD down the street is taunting me..... |

That's kind of a general answer. I can't address any specific VRAD as they don't tell me which ones are going to be turned up when. |

| reply to jrthomas I just checked my address in Roswell (Magnolia Walk) and it looks like it's available now. Cool. So, I'm paying $100-something for 6/768 with SpeakEasy and another $90-something for DirecTV. Need to see how I can get out of those contracts without getting killed.
Sorry if this has been addressed already -- can you get UVerse in a data-only package (no TV)? I'm mostly interested in the bandwidth. |

| reply to akent1 Thanks Claybraker and akent1 for the info.
Here are some pics of the VRAD near me, It's behind and to the side of the Shell station at the intersection of Holcomb Bridge and Grimes Bridge.
Update 4/15/07 Note this not a VRAD per Claybaker's ID below. I'd remove some of the pics, but I don't know how. |

Sorry. |

I'll have to keep looking around I suppose and hope I'm in an area that will get it sooner rather than later). |

| reply to jrthomas I got it last weekend, I live near the corner of Crossville and Crabapple. I believe my VRAD is just to the right of VanGoh's.
ATT did work in my neighborhood around 4-5 months ago. They put up signs that they would be offering DSL service soon, that kind of threw me off. I didnt think much of it until one day I had enough with Charter and looked to see if Uverse was offered and sure enough my house could get it. |

| reply to Automate said by Automate :Is AT&T using the same VRAD design throughout the Atlanta area? They're using several different enclosures, including an awful lot of the ones jrthomas took pictures of. That particular enclosure doesn't have a VRAD in it because I peeked. |

| reply to jrthomas OK, a few more pics of possible VRADs near me so I'll post one site per post. I am around .7 to .9 miles driving distance from all of these.

| reply to akent1 Hi Akent1,
Just curious if you ended up ordering the service? I have checked the addresses of several folks that I know that live around you, and they all are showing up as ineligible at this time.
Looks like your VRAD is in front of the house on Coleman Rd. that always decorates its yard to the hilt for the holidays (just south of your neighborhood entrance). |

I'll third that question.... My brother who lives down in Kennesaw was able to order U-Verse and he got it installed. He chose not to keep it, but he gave it a shot.
I have not lived down in the ATL area since I was about 2 years old (I live up in the Chicago area), so I am not that familiar with exactly what part of Kennesaw he is in. But I know the service is in some parts of Kennesaw.
Try checking availability at »uverse.att.com or give 800-ATT-2020 a ring (unless the phone number is different in Georgia, but I doubt it...)
I was born in Roswell, GA, for the record. Cool stuff. |

He went back to Comcrap, and he has NO LOVE for Comcast, either. But he left because he has some sort of line problem that caused the U-Verse VDSL signal to be spotty. I suspect it is a bridge tap on the line. He said the same thing happened when he used to have BellSouth ADSL a few years back.
He actually liked the service and the features, but the reliability is what got him to go back to Comcast. Now I gotta try to convince him that AT&T WILL fix the line problem, just gotta give them the chance (AT&T is VERY committed to U-Verse, as it is the future). |
