Even if one should block their notifier say with your firewall. Avira has an advertisement made just for the occasion. Apparently part of the origional install since it does not get to connect to the internet to retrieve it.

That's why I never ended up using that damn AV. If they offer for free they should do it all the way like Avast of AVG. To me a half cooked meal is not a real meal. LOL!

If you search these forums, and the net, you would find several simple methods to permanently eliminate the Avira promos.

Many of us have long used the free version of Avira without ever seeing one.

Small price to pay for an excellent top of the line free AV. It never bothered me and there are effective ways to block it.

Any method which prevents 'avnotify.exe' from executing will eliminate any and all nag screens. Simple enough...

Amen.
Nag screen - schmag screen, it's all about detection for me. Although I'll admit, after years of using Classic I finally capitulated and went Premium. Looking forward to ver 8...any day now.

Solution: (if using windows xp that is)Vista fix is similar but if you know how to manage ntfs file permissions you should be able to figure it out.

Turn off Simple File Sharing
Navigate to avira install directory
Right click on avnotify.exe
Go to properties
Go to security tab
Deny System Read, Read + Execture Permissions.
You will have to redo this occasionally, been about 4 months since i had to (When avnotify itself is updated)

And you wont get this annoying popup any more
