| Go ahead and move it Sashwa.
I work for Centurytel larry, and it does sound like there is a user/password issue if you're getting the red internet light. Your modem settings look fine as far as the VPI/VCI settings. Make sure you aren't putting the "@centurytel.net" in the user ID field behind the user name. |

| You will have to have your linksys router handle the PPOE connection now. Hook the modem to the internet port of the router, access your router from your pc and setup the ppoe connection with your user name and password. -- Ofallon, Mo Weather |

| It was already set except the Use the PPP0E was disabled. I tried to enable it but it will NOT take, keeps defaulting back to disable. So I still cant get it to work. I'm guessing either the modem is bad or I'm a lost cause. Thanks for the help |

| reply to larrylwill I changed it to Bridge and get a connect but the internet light is out and I cant get on the internet. Previously, your screen was showing a VPI of 8. Now it shows a VPI of 0. I don't know which is correct for your ISP, but you still need to have that correct even when set as a bridge. |

| Well It looks like that was it after changing the VPI to 8 and rebooting I got it to work even though I still cant select Use RP PPPoE enabled. I also don't get the internet led to light on the modem.
What is the advantages/Dis Advantages of Bridge mode from what I had?
Now that I am in bridge mode how much trouble would it be to set up another router as a repeater so I can get more SS to my office? I have a Dlink and a Westel router spare.
Thank all of you for the lesson and help. |

| I also don't get the internet led to light on the modem. The internet light will not go on when you have the modem set as a bridge. Your router knows that you are connected to internet, but your modem cannot tell.
What is the advantages/Dis Advantages of Bridge mode from what I had? The main disadvantage is that it will be harder to access the modem line statistics. In most other respects, once you have your own router it is preferable to set the modem to a bridge. -- AT&T dsl; Westell 327w modem/router; SuSE 10.1; firefox 2.0.0.13 |
