Happens with both XPPro, Home 2003 Office and Vista Business and Office 2007 are the commone factors. I first reported this to my Symantec contacts long ago and can tell you that it's normal activity.

I just tested this theory by opening a Word document. Guess what? There were new entries for Windows File Scan in the log. So that appears to be it. NOTE: I have shown the logs to Symantec since first noticing 2 years ago and have been advised that it's nothing more than a record of routine advanced scanning written into the program.

I check the settings on both pcs and they are set the same. yet one does this Windows File scan and the other doesn't ?
