Re: A solution to drive-by voters

Sign. IMO if they vote poor they should at least give a reason or some info on how they think the image could be improved.

Or better yet, giving each individual the power to delete such votes/comments from their own gallery would be a really nice feature addition. Both Pbase and Flickr offer this feature to enable the user to simply delete any "drive by" comments.

Being able to remove vostes negates the whole purpose of the voting system and skews the "results". I hardly post in the DI forum but visit it and the gallery regularly as I find the photos taken to be great and can help me as an amateur learn. So therefore since I don't post in the forum my vote is not worth anything?

I didn't say that, I'm saying that poor votes continuously without any explanation, reason, or information as to how that individual sees to improve on the images are worthless, and those with no explanation should be deleteable (is that a word?) by the owner of the gallery.

I guess it just comes down to each person's individual tastes. But I could see people in theory abusing this even if they did get feedback.

Now if someone has a history of doing this then I would imagine it could be addressed on an individual basis. Even in the few pictures I have posted I got the random "poor" without comment. I jsut assumed the person did not like it, etc.

Not to be any more ornery than I usually am, but shouldn't the same thing apply to a vote of 'amazing'?

It seems that most people that vote amazing also comment the image as well. The only ones I've ever seen that voted and did not comment at all had almost always voted poor.
