2 edits | [Speed] Does Comcast limit MTU? I've set my MTU to 1500, but when I run the tweak test it tells me my MTU is 1415. What gives?
I'm just wondering why I cannot change my MTU (or why it says 1415 on the tests but I have it set to 1500 everywhere on my PC)?

Are you running (or have installed ) ANY vpn/encryption/proprietary client(s) (AOL/Netzero/etc.)?
If so which one(s)?
Are you using IPv6 exclusively? (ie no IPv4 available) |

(ie no IPv4 available) I have a Cisco VPN client installed, but am not using at the moment. There is encryption software on my PC called PointSec.
Not sure what IPv6 is?? |

| If that doesn't do it, then I would focus on the the VPN software as tshirt  noted. Even though you aren't using the VPN now, it will dictate what global MTU is used.
