| reply to the cerberus Check between 4PM and 2AM and you should see 60kb/s max (if bonded).
I've only learned of TekSavvy as a result of researching the shaping BS from Bell and will await how the story unfolds. I will almost be switching to TekSavvy for sure at the end of all this, Bell IMO has violated a number of agreements between them and their clients and them and their wholesalers.
Garbage BS contract created by lawyers. Give me a contract that actually states what I can expect in plain english. Not this "unlimited" garbage that actually has considerable limits...how do they get away with it?!?! |

I know exactly why you're not being throttled but cannot say it here for obvious reasons. |

1 edit | reply to the cerberus well the kubuntu cd finished and it was at top speed the whole time So either 1) bell doesnt really care cause theres like 3 dsl subscribers in like 4 blocks here (its all seniors, who, if anything like my grandma, use about 100mb bandwidth a month) so they don't care enough to throttle me 2) im not in the big city, so they don't have that much traffic here (still a fair size town, 110000) 3) their new tech just isnt working here didnt they say april 8th was the official 'everywhere throttled"? |

| reply to the cerberus I haven't been throttled since last week. I just checked right now (9:10pm EST Tuesday night). I've got 4 torrents d/l'ing right now. 1 is at 40k, 2 are at 50k, and 1 is a 250k. Definitely not throttled.
The best part is that I'm doing absolutely nothing to circumvent the throttle (well, I'm running Peerguardian 2, but that's it). |

| said by ultracat :The best part is that I'm doing absolutely nothing to circumvent the throttle (well, I'm running Peerguardian 2, but that's it). More or less the same thing for me: I had regular throttling until March 30, weird 24/24 throttling-like speeds until Tuesday night and no more throttling from Wednesday onwards.
Right now, I have a torrent downloading at 450KB/s. Not 100% sure about this but I think this could be my first time torrenting at a sustained ~450KB/s on ADSL.
So it seems Bell's throttling experiment in my area lasted only one single week. |

1 edit | i'd like to also note, i share a BAS with a certain corporation that does research for bell in waterloo, it may have everything to do with this or nothing at all. but, if you have never been throttled, please post if you think theres a business (maybe partner of bells) near you sharing the same BAS. this seems to be too big of a coincidence. |

| reply to the cerberus I'm connected to the CO, serving most of the downtown core, but theres no main businesses, really. The only thing of importance would be banks, but I think its safe to assume they have their own private data lines (if not... :S) |

| reply to recneps the thing is, is that its my understanding business bell dsl is not throttled, and arent both of these using pppoe?.... same BAS, different ISP... i dont think bell is smart enough to throttle based on isps... identifying which BAS's are used for businesses on the other hand... |
