[OOL] What are Boost speeds supposed to be?

I have Optimum Boost and the speeds never pass 12MB download and around 3.2MB upload. Before I had boost the download was around the same if not better. Only the upload improved. What are the Boost speeds supposed to be? I keep seeing advertisements of "up to 30MB". My connection doesn't even sniff close to that much. Should I downgrade? I've had Boost for several months now.

Which modem do you have? if you have a router, which, and are you connected via wire or wireless?

I'm using the Motorola SBV5120. And yes, I usually am connected via a wireless router, but when I connect directly (wired) I get similar speeds. I'm also like 8 feet away from the router when connected wirelessly anyhow.

Also, sometimes pages take a while to load and I get a bunch of errors in the modem logs. I hate Optimum Online.

30/5
34.5/5mbps technically.

You should check your signals, and post in the direct forum.

You can hate them, or you can call them to try to fix the problem. I don't recall many people posting problems with boost upload speeds - mostly issues with download.

As asked previously by xirian See Profile, WHAT router? If you are using a non Boost compatible router, it will choke your speeds and connection.

I'm using a Linksys WRT54GS. It's on the list of Boost-compatible routers.

What download results do you get in the OOL Speed Test (test64)?

I get about 700k/sec or so downloading the "test64" file via FTP.

The www.speedtest.net, however, reports 32018kbps(down)/4430kbps(up).

Downloading movie trailers from Apple, I can get over 3MB/sec. That tells me that speedtest.net is accurate, and that "something" is tapped out on ftp1.optonline.net ...

ftp1.optonline.net has been slow for the past 2 months or so. Maybe they got tired of everybody not on optonline using it as a speed test.
