Re: Arris TM502G/CT Modem w/Comcast Cable Internet ...Battery?

said by rody_44:

the battery does indeed keep the phone lines working contrary to the previous poster.
it keeps the phone line(s) working during a power outage, however it does not power the phone itself -- consider that 99.999% of the time people are using a cordless phone which uses power from a wall outlet.. no power == no phone

When the power goes out, *NO* home phone service is of any use when one uses a cordless phone.

you would be surprised at the number of people who do not understand this.. thinking the modem battery will run their cordless phone..

if they had a phone that was powered by the phone line, then it would work during a power outage..
