Anybody got some suggestions on what I can do?
Look at the router's system log. Log in, click on System Monitoring icon, choose Advanced Status menu item, answer Yes to nag, click on System Logging.

Look for problems indicating connection failure. If your router is squeaky clean, you should only see the DHCP messages for WAN and LAN, maybe also CWMP messages.

I can't connect to my router when the problem arises, and the log appears to flush itself on reboots. Here's the log immediately after a reboot though:

Do any of the lights on the router change when you're experiencing an outage?

It sounds like it is a router malfunction. Although some have said the power brick can be problematic..

I'd call it in to get a replacement shipped.

I just replicated the error (it's trivially easy to do at this point), and none of the lights changed or went out. I also confirmed that a second wired device couldn't access the router - I'm normally on wireless. The strange thing is that my STB never stops working. Thanks for all the help so far, I'll see if I can get Verizon to send a replacement.

I upload like a madman with firefox and mine never does that and I can surf the web while maxing out my upload and download at 20 mb with no issues at all.

Which firmware do you have ?

Replicate the error, and call tech support. When you finally get a person on the line, have them verify your connection from outside. If they can see you, but you can't see them, it's the router. Because you're on a TV package, they'll replace it.

Your STB may have stopped working and you don't know it. You can test by trying to view guide data past 1 week schedule, or start a VOD program. If you get VOD, your STB is connected. Or view widgets.
