 [HSI] Intermittent HSI Service

Last night I noticed that my HSI service was very intermittent. I had to reboot my cable modem to restore service, and it would work for ~1/2 hour, then I would lose connectivity. Rebooting the modem would then again re-establish connectivity, for a while. Modem looked fine, all lights on and connectivity light blinking before reboot. I got lots of exercise running up/down the stairs - must have happened 5-6 times before I gave up and went to bed.

Anybody else notice this last night or recently? This obviously kills my VoIP service, as well. I am in E. Amwell area.

I don't know if Patriot is doing any maintenance or "upgrades" in preparation for swinging onto the Comcast network, but I sure don't appreciate the intermittent service.

Also appalling is the communication from Comcast about the transition....

You, or they, must have missed the letter I got from Comcast/Patmedia about a week ago. In part, it says, "during this transition, you may experience some temporary service interruptions. .... you may be able to resolve them... by pressing the reset button on the back of the eMTA.."

... you will need to reset your Internet modem by unplugging for a minimum of 60 seconds, then restart your computer. Also reboot the router, if you have one.

Well from what i have been reading upstream speeds are pathetic under comcast 6/768. Which is useless. So Fios is really looking better now. Why the people at comcast forget is there is a demographic that will pay a 10/10 connection. Or even a 10/5 connection. But then again i am a brain dead consumer, who thinks the people reading scripts, know more then i do. FIOS i await your arrival.

I agree. I don't know what comcast is thinking. Lets hope FIOS, or OOL comes in the area.
