They are only free by calling the number you get in a letter that comes several weeks before your analog channels get converted to digital.

I called the number in the letter and am being billed 3.99 a month and also got billed 19.99 for an "additional outlet"
I had the charges reversed for this month but I think once bills start to hit for everyone, there are going to be a lot of unhappy people.

Re: Digital adapter- They Said It Was Free, But. . . .

Our latest bill from Verizon is quite confusing. We were supposed to get the movie package for $5.00, since we signed a 2 year contract. And, when we got the Multiroom/Home Media DVR option, we were given a half off ($9.99) discount price. Neither discount showed up on our bill, in fact it seems that we must be charged for the SD DVR we didn't order and returned (we have the receipt) and the 2 "free" DSCT-700s.

I tried calling this afternoon and after 40 minutes of the horrid muzak, I finally decided to go online to check our account, hoping for an explanation for this discrepancy. It just said that for TV Additional Services, we were being billed about $70.00 (it was less than $30.00 the month before). No further explanation was available.

As far as I know, the extra services should be 1. HD DVR 2. SD STB 3. Movie package 4. Home Media/Mutltiroom DVR. And we should be getting a discount on the last two (movies and multiroom DVR). The only thing we have added lately that we should be paying for is the Multiroom/Home Media option, for half price. But, our Additional TV Services went up by over $40.00!

We signed up for FIOS for two years, last August, and I thought they couldn't raise our rates so soon. I'm setting aside tomorrow morning to try and contact them. It seems like when I defend their growing pains, something like this happens. Mark F.

once you get the letter call, tell them you have X televisions without set top boxes. They will give you up to 3 supposedly free adapters. 4th and up $3.99 month. Got my 3 in one day.

I just ordered 3 without the letter. I figured I better jump on this before they change there mind. I did hear her yell out to another support person "Why are we getting calls from CA. already?" But she gave me a confirmation number and said they were coming. She even offered to transfer my existing DA that I pay for over to free and send me two. I live in Socal.
