Whats your modems signal level.

In your browser address type this address, "works for most modems" 192.168.100.1 Then you will know if those techs are serious when they say signal is good. Also to those of you that have issues when it rains run this to see if signal is fluctuating when raining and dry times. Digital signals are on the outer layer of the copper. When cable is water damaged the outer copper is affected. And if your lined into a router, may have to line only to modem.

So what does all this mean? Is there any standard settings? This winter they told me my signal was too high, that's why my internet and digital phone were not working and my digital cable was choppy/skipping. They fixed something outside. Sorry but can anyone explain?

That's from disconnecting the splitter. Tech coming out tomorrow to find out what's the problem. With a splitter the US starts at 42dBmV then jumps to 51...net out. W/o splitter starts at 39 and is smooth as hell but then goes to 45 and I get very long page loads/timeouts. 47 seems to be the breaking point. Anyone got any ideas?

I have a tech coming in the morning, we are having major issues. Several times a day we get dropped from the internet and phone and sometimes the tvs go out too. The lights on the modem completely shut off. We have no clue what the problem might be. I don't think its my router and i'm not convinced its their modem. I don't see how the modem could knock out the tv too. I think it could be the splitter or the cable wire. I think it might be that because the splitter and some of the cable wires are ours. The guy who installed us refused to hook up our cable modem himself because he would have had to run a wire from one side of the room to another. So i am thinking our wires or splitter could be bad.

Your upstream level is very close to causing you to have no upload signal at all. It is borderline (anything above 55-56dBmv is too high) and depending on your modem brand 54dBmV could be too high. Your modem is having to shout which is hard work and it doesn't get heard sometimes even with shouting.

Your modem is not knocking out your TV. But if you are having TV reception problems also that just indicates how severe your problem is which could be indoor wiring, outside, drop line, etc. Your router and the modem (most likely) have nothing to do with this problem. This is caused by noise on the line. Purely a TW problem. You may have the tech replace the modem just as a precaution though.

They came and checked our signal on all our cable lines on every tv. The guy even checked the wires going into and out of the splitter. The signal tested strong the upstream tested at 49 unlike the 54 the modem says. He thinks its the modem. He didn't replace it though cause tomorrow they are installing the wireless networking and will be changing the modem anyway. Hopefully he is correct and all will be fixed when the change the modem and install their wireless networking.

Your perfect receive is good from -9 to +9. Transmit is good anywhere from 32 to 52. signal to noise looks good. Anything lower than 30 is bad.
