open IE, or whatever you use...
type in the ip address: 192.168.100.1
If you get prompted for a login it is admin, motorola

Thanks. While I don't expect a fix in a day, so far that hasn't happened. They just closed my thread , but the problem isn't fixed.

I guess I'll give them a month and start a new thread as the one of the ooltech s suggested.

BLUNTED 1 : I would expect to see at least 70% to 75 % minimum from any package and I already see about 50% and less sometimes which is crap.

Is it 90%+, 80%, 70%, etc...

What would you consider the minimum you should be able to expect to get from OOL?

I'm not asking what you actually get, just what you think would be a reasonable expectation of speeds...

FWIW, my downstream problem is still being worked by local head end supervisors and RDFN guys...

Gosh, I remember a time when I was at the top of OOL speed test results, second only to Shenkman and Oxygen! :)

anon : I have had boost for over a year now. Until a month ago I was getting 20-25 down and 4.9 up. I had some issues with my line which required me to replace my modem and they had to reconfigure my account due to an issue with my line. Ever since then I have not been getting the same speeds. I have spent a few days at home over the past 2 weeks and have noticed a huge variation in upload speed throughout the day. One minute I get 15 down and the next 9 (even 6 once). The up rate has remains consistently 4. I have called support twice and had a tech come out twice. Support said that an abnormally high signal in the line might be my problem but each time a tech came out to test the line they found nothing wrong. My speeds are noticeably more erratic and lower during the day than during the evening. In the evening hours i get up to 21 down and 4.7 up. I find this strange considering most of my building is gone during the day and find it hard to believe that it is congestion. I live close to several small businesses, but no building that would be sucking hard on the pipe. After reading this thread I suspect optimum is doing something shady. One thing is for sure, they better start upgrading their network or else I will be moving to fios soon.

I have regular OOL now and the download is pretty jumpy but I think that its congestion here because it goes by time of day when it slows down but the upload is faster than I have ever seen it and I have been hitting over 1900 kb on the 15/2.

I had a "test session" with an OOL Tech just yesterday, 4-13-08. Was put on Boost a few months ago while they determine my "problem".

I have seen, with Boost, speeds as high as 24-25 Meg down, my uploads have been about 4.5 meg.

When we were testing yesterday, he did the tests, with both OOL's speedtest and speedtest.net. He was doing the tests and he saw my speeds go from about 23-24 Meg to 13-15 Meg in a few minutes.
He reports NO CONGESTION on my node, they have reported to me several times that they have "fixed" my issue, yet I have not seen any improvement.

I too have been having issues since before December.

This appears to be an issue in several areas, but not all, apparently...

BLUNTED 1 : They are pretty accurate most of the time when you test against an FTP and get the same speeds as Flash or Java tests.

I get pretty accurate results with Fios and OOL

I used to see 32-34mbps on a regular basis. Since December 19th 2007, I have had one (count it, one) day where my speeds for some odd reason went to 28-29mbps, and then a few hours later promptly fell back down. This was on February 1st. :)

The downstream speed on my BOOST does not exceed 16mbit. I've talked to numerous techs, had several modem swaps, had at least four techs here at the premises, and finally was told that OOL feels this is not a congestion issue and has forwarded it to RFDN.

Anyway, if it is a congestion issue, look for prime time slowdowns. If your speeds remain poor like mine, no matter what time it is, 4am, 10am or 8pm, then congestion may not be the problem.

Yes, it's definitely not my computer. I'd call them but I'm moving out of here at the end of May anyway. But I'll probably subscribe again when I move into a new apartment. Just wondering if it's common to have such low speeds. I've narrowed it down to tese problems: the modem, the wiring, high-traffic area, or something on their end. I get a lot of errors on my modem logs. Can't even get the time of day.

SpeedMatters : I'm thinking my area is a high-traffic area? There's literally one ISP in this area I think. Everybody around here has Optimum Online I think. But if they can't offer me Boost speeds why are they offering Boost?

As asked previously by xirian , WHAT router? If you are using a non Boost compatible router, it will choke your speeds and connection.

SpeedMatters : I'm using the Motorola SBV5120. And yes, I usually am connected via a wireless router, but when I connect directly (wired) I get similar speeds. I'm also like 8 feet away from the router when connected wirelessly anyhow.

SpeedMatters : I have Optimum Boost and the speeds never pass 12MB download and around 3.2MB upload. Before I had boost the download was around the same if not better. Only the upload improved. What are the Boost speeds supposed to be? I keep seeing advertisements of "up to 30MB". My connection doesn't even sniff close to that much. Should I downgrade? I've had Boost for several months now.
