Number one reason I got one though was the Westpark tollway though. There was a six week period that I needed to use it everyday. I got curious and gave them a call -- the guy I talked to on their customer service number told me that the 10-15 day estimate is there so that they don't run into any problems with impatient customers if there is a delay with tags or shipping. In my case, I was told that everything went smoothly, and that my tag was mailed out today from Houston via USPS. Since this is a local shipment, I should have it by Saturday, or Monday at the latest.

Until then, I can go through the toll plaza lanes and their system will recognize my license plate and withdraw the money from my account based on that. The only drawback of this is that the on ramps and off ramps don't have cameras, so I would still have to stop and pay with those.

Either way, this isn't too bad.

But that's with an existing account.

If you have a HCTRA account, you can switch between license plates/cars using the online feature then switch back after you are finished, but you have to have a removable tag to do that. The new tags are permanently affixed to your windshield.

Have you considered going to one of the substations around town? I have no recollection of how long it took. Back then the tags were big enough that you knew what you got in the mail. I do not remember any long period of time to get it and I do remember slow service so I am guessing it was inside a week. I think as long as they can glom onto your credit card/bank account without trouble you will get it some time next week. Early next week? I just ordered one a few minutes ago, and got an email saying that it takes 10-15 days for them to "process" the application and send me a tag.

Are they serious about this, or is that just a conservative estimate? I was hoping to have the tag in-hand early next week, but now that I see this I'm not so sure...

Any experiences from you guys? Judging by this, I should've just made some time to go to the store. :huh:
