 Strange and frequent connection drops

Hi,

Not sure whats causing this:

I started getting frequent conection drops in the last couple weeks. I dont need to restart the router, usually just takes a few seconds for the connection to come back up. First I thought it was random, but I set up a queue of downloads, and it happens every 45-50 megs of downloads.

edit: I guess it might not be every 45-50 megs but the time it takes to download that. 5-6 min or so.

any ideas?

Don't forget to reboot the modem as well. I had lots of problems that kept getting worse and worse until I replaced the modem (thanks, Sonic). Now all is well again.

update: it happens at exactly 5 min of uptime. It doesnt seems to fully disconnect because its back up the next second. BTW i have a Neatgear DG834 (v1) which has been working well for a bunch of years already.

I found that under connection status in my router it says my IP lease time is also only 5 min. So I assume thats part of the problem.

I get 5min ip leases as well. I wish that Sonic would hand them out longer as it fills my router's logs pretty quick but its their network to run, not mine.
