anon : I guess it is possible if our internet is caped at higher speeds that the flow would cause timeouts because from what i read people with the high caped 8meg plus is having issue's with the internet while the low caped users 1.5-4 is not having any issue's. When i had verizon dsl(in california) i was caped 768k by 128k Never had a problem then when they raise the cap to 1.5 i had to call them up and tell them they got me on the wrong connect. Well after the tech found that problem they fixed it and for a solid year i never had a problem, then i moved to IL and got cable.

Could this mean DSL > Cable > Satellite? or i guess all isp's are just low quality services.
anon : I have a quick question for you guys, I'm moving to heyworth soon and right now I have verizon DSL (3360/736) and they don't offer it in heyworth. From reading so far I feel Mediacom mainly for PS3 online gaming may not be the best option, would you agree?

kbeebe : I live in Clinton as well. I have watched the speed test results drop and ping levels shoot up since December. Like you, I have no trouble during the weekday, it is only weekends and evenings that I have trouble, I have the 15/1 service and last night was getting less than I down and only 383k up. I have called in multiple times with no result other than the local tech finding out that the node I am on has way too many users on it. Fortunately I have been in touch with Bainch on these forums and he was able to help out, some time this week the node is suppose to be split up and hopefully things will get better. If your lucky maybe your on the same node and your problems will go away as well. Do call tech support, explain to them that your speed test results are way below what your paying for and get a credit issued. I have been calling for and getting a credit each month.

anon : I'm having problems with mine as well. I'm in Clinton, IL and every day for the past several weeks I get these same time-outs. It can happen randomly, but it ALWAYS happens during peak hours at night, from 5/6ish to midnight every night. When I run a ping like you do it can be as bad as every other line is a timeout.

I play World of Warcraft online and during these hours I can get so fed up with this I am forced to quit for the night. It's impossible for online play when it times out so long it disconnects me or so often nothing can be done without lag. Normal game ms in WoW for me is like..40-100ms ( these numbers still happen but only during off hours like the early AM )but now that this is happening 250ms is a good number. 700-2,000ms is where the game normally goes when this happens.

I'm thinking about calling them but if it's their issue I don't want to be charged to have someone come out and check my modem and not fix anything!
