| reply to Knnn Well, Shaw does do deep packet inspection right now.
However, the only thing they're using it for right now is throttling BitTorrent, since the equipment they deploy (Ellacoya) is designed for managing P2P traffic. It's not really designed for the mass gathering of personal usage information.
I would also think there might be Privacy Act implications if this happens, as well.
Edit: I meant, there may be Privacy Act implications if Shaw decides to sell browsing information, not that there are implications on the Ellacoyas and BitTorrent. |
