| What is your favourite Gadget and why?
Mine would have to be my Commodore 64,i think that unit is my FAVOURITE 8 Bit COMPUTER OF ALL TIME!! (I love it and use it often)
My very first computer of that type was a TI994a which was good but not as good as c64 |

(I love it and use it often) My very first computer of that type was a TI994a which was good but not as good as c64 I knew a guy who ran a multi-line BBS on a TI99/4a, it had 4 incoming phone lines (from 2400 baud modems), two 360kb 5.25" floppy drives, and a cassette tape drive. He had custom written the BBS software, which even allowed chat between users who were logged on at the same time. I'm still amazed when I think about that setup.
My favorite gadget of all time would have to be my X-10 modules and remotes. I've had these since about 1984 and have grown so accustomed to them that when I'm in someone else's home I feel so encumbered not having that remote ability. |

| reply to Dude111 I also knew a guy who ran a site off a TI994a (The Big Experiment) -- Nice guy.. I wish i knew where he was now,he was a good friend...... (He also customized it)
Would be neat if it was the same guy!!
I remember one day talking to him in chat on his site and i "let myself out of chat" He didnt know the user could do that (He showed his wife and she wasnt happy)
I guess i tried every key while in chat to see if anything happend and i found one that allowed ME to exit chat (Which wasnt supposed to happen) -- I think he fixed it im not sure........
Wonderfull site he created.....
Ah the good old days............. |

| reply to Dude111 I thought about it and cannot go back that far (can older gadgets compare with modern ones?).
Mine, hands down is a navigation system/GPS. Prior to that we used mapquest/mapblast but that could not be used once on the road. Prior to that, paper maps (ouch).
Next... give me google maps, street view on a navigation system! |

| reply to Dude111 believe it or not, ipods have really got my attention now,and im 52 years old. my company gave all the employees an ipod touch for christmas and after messing around with it a bit,i just had to order a 160 gig classic. i like the touch just fine but the 16 gigs didnt have enough room for just my music so i ordered the big boy. i find it truly amazing that i can carry in the palm of my hand what would take many, many boxes of cd's or tapes. and while the screens are very small, taking a few movies or tv show is kinda cool for those long car rides. i bought a fm transmitter so i can play it thru my factory stereo but im not totally satisfied with it as the is some interference on it.someone makes an adapter that plugs in the back of the factory stereo that eliminates this problem and i may just order it. i kinda worry about it being a distraction as i drive though, not from the videos, wouldnt even think about wathing them as i drive. just trying ti find songs on it while driving me makes me think you need to use utmost caution. oh yea, with the classic,i can also store files on it like a external hard drive so i could if i chose to,store work on it to transfer to a computer somewhere else. |

Newer cars from Ford, BMW, Mercedes, and VW have factory radios with built-in connectors for iPods and can even use the steering-wheel-mounted controls to operate the iPod when connected. If you have one of those, perhaps you could get the factory system replaced with one of the newer ones. Most likely an expensive option, though. |

| reply to Dude111 My iPod Video 30Gb. I got it for my 50th birthday and it is an essential gadget for me, well that and my CPAP machine.
I have over 20,000 digital music tracks totaling well over 100Gb. When Apple perfects the 160Gb iPod classic I may be in the market for a new iPod |

| reply to Dude111 Sharp Zaurus SL-5600 because it runs Linux. I write code sitting on my couch or at the gym or in a coffee shop yet it fits in my pocket. Plugged into it's cradle I can log on remote and have multiple shells and full screen editor. I'm totally stoked that I have the power of a Mac G3 plus gigabyte flash in a handheld. |

Once i get a 3g smartphone that will work on t-mobile, i can pretty much promise you that will be my favorite gadget. LoL -- When you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all. |
