the union is usually mum about these issues, but if they're squawking, then something is not right.. in this case the union is right.. you can't turn support techs into car-salesman because that's sleazy..
its verizon's choice to invest 20 billion in wireless and they can't make that the union's problem, on how to pay for it..

You are wrong with that assumption. Many of the East coast call centers are IBEW represented as well as the call center in Everett, WA. Furthermore, when I worked at the Ameritech/SBC call center in Hoffman Estates, IL we were part of IBEW Local 21. IBEW may primarily be a trade Union, but it does represent more than just Electricians and Field techs.
