[ VoIP] NYC Caller ID on TV

04/09/2008

CALLER ID ON TV COMING TO TIME WARNER CABLE’S NEW YORK CITY REGION

New York, NY -

Time Warner Cable’s New York City region has introduced Caller ID on TV to customers who subscribe to both Digital Phone and digital cable*. This group of approximately 50,000 customers, now have an additional free feature on TV -- a Caller ID display. A small banner with the caller’s name appears on the top left-hand corner of the television when the home phone rings.

“Time Warner Cable continually leads the way in integrating technology to enhance products and make home entertainment and communication simpler and easier. Caller ID on TV is another example of how we deliver choice, value and innovation to customers,” said Howard Szarfarc, Executive Vice President, Time Warner Cable’s New York City region. “Today 50,000 customers in our service area can access Caller ID on TV. It’s a clever, convenient new feature that’s free as part of our home phone service,” added Szarfarc.

This easy-to-read caller ID display allows customers to make an immediate decision on whether they want to continue or break away from watching digital television toanswer a call. In addition, Caller ID on TV keeps track of the last ten incoming calls, even while the television is turned off. The caller's name, number, the date, time and number of times they called are stored in the Call Log for future reference. The service can be suppressed as well, if the customer chooses to do so.

Caller ID on TV lets customers identify callers right on the TV screen before answering the phone. Unwanted interruptions and unwanted phone calls are eliminated while watching TV.

*Customers must have a Scientific Atlanta 4250HDC or 8300HDC converter or Samsung converter plus residential phone service to receive Caller ID on TV. If a customer wishes to exchange a converter, the company will do so at no charge.

The service is being rolled out systematically throughout New York City over the next several months.
