| [General] The Worst Phone Company in America tries to protect it
Given the company marketing it, it's too expensive, probably doesn't work, customer service won't know anything about it, and each store probably only got 2 to sell ... BUT ... here's an effort by a local phone company to stop the erosion of consumer landlines to cable and VOIP service providers.

I'd like to see a device like this that would adhere to standards like DECT and incorporate standard features that could be implemented by anyone. The more companies like Vtech suck up to proprietary solutions tailored for a specific provider, the more I dislike them. Of course, more hacking opportunities for the tinkerers. |

I did not realize an open standard was emerging there. It even specs G.726 compression. |

| As many know... both of those companies suck and are doom to never make a profit w/o cheating the subscriber. My guess is that it is nothing more than a way to turn customers off of voip. |

| reply to RockyBB The phone is made by VTech. After owning a Vtech IP8100 (Vonage) which I had unlocked (thanks yahooxxxx) and finding a dial map instead of a dial string, I'd never buy another VTech product again. No documentation, no support, Vtech is not friendly when a company like vonage or embarq's name is on a phone. |
