1 edit | Is online gaming affected?
I will soon be back home and am planning on some sorely needed gaming.
Question, so far has latency been affected on the following?
LOTRO, Eve-Online, Guild Wars, and Quake Wars, Ennemy Territory?
Oh, I do not normally BT or P2p
Tks. |

| reply to mazhurg I don't know about those games specifically, but game traffic over UDP is mostly treated universally and thus falls in the same category. My latency varies from 70-110 ms to very fast servers. Peer to Peer will be slower.
Good thing to do is to find a local game server ( not on this ISP ) , somewhere like the 151 front street building . These local servers will be a very short hop amount away from you and will give you a very good reading.
My latency used to be in the solid 50s and 60s, but since a couple of months ago, it jumped by about 30-40 ms and fluctuates around ~100. This was right before my torrents got capped at 30 Kb/s. What a mess !
Probably like you, I am heavily involved in this type of gaming bandwidth usage, and if Bell would be less of a f*cked up company we would all be happier. |

WoW gaming was affected by the throttle (before they throttled the resellers) but a while later they applied a patch to their throttle to prevent it.
So its hit or miss. |
