thanx to all for the info and alternatives

I joined just to say that I, like probably scores if not hundreds of others, have read what is happening HERE. If not for this site I and many others would be frustrated and clueless. I lurked and watched the progress, the fake posts from the 'speedfactory' employee yeah-right, and the ntwk snooping and financial snooping of SF's demise. Thank you to all.
I was a SF user since April 1, 2005 and suffered 2 other outages [and I'm just a home user] in past 6 months. Heaven only knows how many others occurred that I wasn't online to experience. I too liked supporting a local company and ignoring the Big Boys.
I have joined Atlantic Nexus as of 11:40pm Sat. and yes there was Chris there alive and willing to sign me up. We are having trouble reprogramming my Hawking HAR11 modem router with new id/pwd. If anyone cares to post that info, thank you in advance. If Atnex can't get the procedure from Hawking on Monday morning, I guess I will have to purchase a new router.

Anyway I went with Atlantic Nexus since they had great customer svc, quick response, and you all raved about them. Abraxis seemed to be a bit pricey, www.net2atlanta.com seems to be for business users only, and I did not investigate www.negia.net (Northeast Georgia Internet out of Athens)or www.snappydsl.net out of Florida.

Because I didn't act quickly, I have to wait til Tue. afternoon or Wed. morning for ATT/bellsouth to process the order from ATnex. Fortunately I have a laptop w/wireless capability in addition to the now-down desktop pc, and I am boosting a neighbor's unsecure wireless. Shame on me.
Thanx again for all the news here; I had to tell the friend who got me into SF 3 years ago, what was going on. He has no other ISP and is dead in the water.
