Re: How to hide those unsightly speaker cables?

i just ran them under the floor. drilled one hole behind the stereo and fished them over where i wanted them and drilled another. wouldnt work if you had finished ceilings in the basement or were on an upper floor though.

I was reading up on the fish tape method and it looks pretty complicated. It's probably something I'd need to do to run it through the floors or heating vent, correct?

I'm trying to get it on the opposite wall of my TV; I guess it's not that big of a deal if it's the adjacent wall. I just wanted the speakers to face the middle area to where we would be seated.

So if I was to do it on the adjacent or opposite wall I would have to fish the cable wire around a corner. Can anyone provide some insight or a possible link to a good how to website that could explain further. I don't want to drill numerous holes along the wall creating a trail to keep fishing the wire through.

I'm still deciding whether to do the tape method. My girlfriend hates the idea because it'll look tacky. But I saw some good tape at Home Depot that you can purchase that would match the color of your wall perfectly. Otherwise I can also just paint over it so it matches.

Anyways we'll see how complicated the fishing method is.

Fishing around the room would be very tricky. With carpet you should be able to tuck the wire into the edge of the carpet under the baseboard. Then you would just need to fish the wire up the wall to the speaker which would be fairly easy. Or if you put the speakers close to the corner you could just run the wire up the corner and use a corner molding to hide it.

A feasible option if I had carpet. I've read about this on a couple websites and sounds good. However, I'm in the unfortunate position where I have to deal with wood floors. I'm really debating whether this is all worth the trouble. I can just as easily purchase white speaker wires and run that along the bottom wall molding and have it camouflaged. We have a few things lined up against the wall so it shouldn't be too noticeable. It's not a huge issue for me, but it's my girlfriend who wanted me to fish the wire and hide it.

Honestly, if it's going to cost a lot and be this tedious and burdensome I might just scrap the project and take the easy way out All the websites make it seem complicated and labor intensive. It definitely would take some patience and time.
